New Years Nyan Cat is one of the many spoofs of Nyan Cat. This Nyan Cat was created by Chris Torres to celebrate New Year's 2012.

Physical Appearance

The cat wears glasses corresponding to the year's number and has a blue and yellow circle body that flashes between yellow, green, blue, pink, purple and orange, and it closely resembles the Times Square Ball found in New York City. The triangles are also in the shape of the Triforce from The Legend of Zelda.

The music is a hybrid of the original Zelda overworld theme & Auld Lang Syne, a song that is played when the New Year begins.

He also appears on nyan.cat. On New Year's 2013, on his nyan.cat page, he was updated to have 2013 glasses. He was updated for New Year's 2014, 2015, and 2016.

The 2017 And 2018 New Year's Nyan Cat has yet to come.

For some time, it had been removed from the "Pick a Flavor" menu, and was only accessible through typing "cat=newyear" into the URL. It has since been added back to the menu. But, by using the link https://www.nyan.cat/index/php?cat=oldnewyear, you can access the one with the 2015 glasses.

The music is still present, and oddly enough, the page has actually been redesigned correctly like the other Nyans that are still present on the website.

• The music is a remix of both the Overworld theme from The Legend of Zelda, and Auld Lang Syne.

• The New Year's Nyan cat can still be found by changing the URL to say "newyear" after the =.

• The redesign of the page may hint the New Year's Nyan may come back.
