Certain policies and guidelines are expected to be followed on the Nyan Cat Wiki by the users of this community. Administrators will enforce these policies at all times, and one warning will be given to individuals who break these rules before they are blocked.

As ever, the staff members on this wiki strives to keep our policy short and simple. If anyone notices a rule that could be simplified, broadened, or improved, please do not hesitate to drop a message on this article's talk page.

We would also remind our users, including you to keep in mind Fandom's Terms of Use while using the wiki.

General

This section is about rules that apply to all the site.

Code Rule Punishment if not followed
G-1 You must have at least the following age to join depending on the region:

If the user’s found to be under the minimum age, they will be blocked until there is enough trust that they are thirteen/sixteen.
G-2 You mustn’t create sockpuppet accounts.
  • Sockpuppetry is the act of making multiple accounts to evade a block.
Permanent block to all the accounts.
G-3 You mustn't harass users or be intimidating to the community.
  • This also applies to the ban of discrimination and bigotry, this includes the intolerance of any form of racism (race/ethnicity), ableism (disabilities), homophobia and transphobia (LGBT+ community), sexism (genders), and more. The wiki is inclusive to everyone.
The invasive user will receive two strikes, and the discriminator will be blocked.
G-4 You must communicate English in a coherent and recognizable way.
  • This also applies to the prohibition of speaking other languages aside of English.
The user who does not speak the language in the correct manner will be warned.
G-5 You mustn't ask users their sensitive information.
  • This includes the ban of asking their name, address, private documents, etc.
The user who fails to abide this rule receives three warnings.
G-6 You mustn't say slurs.
  • Swearing is allowed, however, the act of slurring isn’t. This includes the ban of words such as the n-word, the r-word, etc.
The user who says slurs will be blocked permanently.
G-7 You mustn't pretend to be another individual, in other words, you mustn't impersonate.
  • The user needs to prove that they are not impersonating, if it’s not validated, this rule will be applied.
The impersonator will be will be blocked indefinitely.
G-8 You mustn't troll the community.
  • Trolling is the act of provoking other users and/or seeking attention for inflammatory purposes.
  • This also applies the ban of giving attention to trolls (troll-feeding), since that’s what these type of users want.
The troll will be blocked permanently, and the feeder will be warned.
G-9 You mustn't upload pornography, gore or any disturbing/adult-oriented material or create messages in a sexual/scary conduct.
  • In many situations we call it “NSFW” (not safe for work), due to the problems that may cause watching adult content at work, academic institutions, and any other family-friendly settings.
Any user who posts that kind of material will be blocked permanently.
G-10 You mustn't spam content.
  • Spam is the act of inserting unwanted or suspicious links or copy-pasted text multiple times.
The spammer will be blocked.
G-11 You mustn't leak doxxed information.
  • Doxxing is the practice of leaking/publishing sensitive information of a person or a group without their consent.
The leaker/doxxer will be blocked permanently.
G-12 You mustn't be engaged in promotion.
  • This also applies promoting content unrelated to Nyan Cat.
The user who promoted something receives a strike.
G-13 You must have an appropiate account username
  • We won't tolerate usernames with foul language or slurs.
The user who fails to abide this rule will be blocked permanently.

Discussions

This section is about rules that apply to the wiki's communication field. (discussions, blog posts and message walls)

Code Rule Punishment if not followed
D-1 You can only post five posts/polls per day. The user who posts over five posts/polls in a single day will receive a strike.
D-2 You mustn’t post content will the goal of harvesting conflicts, arguments, or any harassing content. The rants will be locked/deleted, and the user who posted the inflammatory post will receive two strikes.
D-3 You must talk only about Nyan Cat, the Nyan Cat Wiki or Fandom. You cannot talk anything that is off-topic. The off-topic content will be locked or deleted, and the user will be warned.
D-4 You mustn’t post incoherent content. The user who fails to follow this rule will receive a strike.
D-5 You mustn’t reply to 60-day-old posts (do not necropost). The post that has been necroposted will be locked, and the user will receive a strike.
D-6 Do not add categories to blog posts. The user who fails to follow this rule will be warned.
D-7 Do not create irrelevant blog posts. The user who fails to follow this rule will receive a strike.
D-8 You mustn’t delete valid warnings or strikes given by the staff members onto your message wall.
  • Warnings expire in two weeks, while strikes expire in a month. When these expire, you can delete them as much as you want.
The user who deletes their warnings and/or strikes will receive a strike. And if the user deletes their third strike, they are blocked.
D-9 Only the staff of the wiki can give warnings and strikes. Any users who aren’t staff and are warning and striking will be warned instead.

Content

This section is about rules that apply to the wiki's editing field. (articles, templates, files, userpages, etc.)

Code Rule Punishment if not followed
C-1 Articles in the Nyan Cat Wiki must have at least 500 bytes of information. The page will be marked for deletion. And the creator of the article receives a strike.
C-2 Articles related to Nyan Cat Variations or fan-made Nyan Cat Spoofs must have an infobox. The page will be marked for deletion. And the creator of the article will be warned.
C-3 Articles in the Nyan Cat Wiki with over 500 bytes but under 1000 bytes will be marked as “stub” articles. The page will be marked as a stub.
C-4 Articles must be written in a neutral way. Articles with a positive or negative perspective to it’s subject will be marked for deletion.
C-5 You mustn’t use an artificial intelligence to write an article.
  • This applies the prohibition of using ChatGPT, Google Bard, Microsoft Bing AI, or any other AI to write an article.
The page will be deleted or modified, and the user who used AI to write it receives two strikes.
C-6 You mustn’t copy and paste excessive content from other website.
  • This applies to other wikis such as Wikipedia, news sites, etc.
The user who copy-pasted receives a strike.
C-7 You mustn't engage in vandalism.
  • Vandalism is the practice of disrupting content onto articles, such as inserting nonsense, provocative messages, etc.
The vandal will be blocked.
C-8 You mustn’t repeatedly edit to increase your contributions count (edit farming). The farmer will receive three strikes.
C-9 You mustn’t enter in edit conflicts.
  • Edit wars/conflicts are when two or more editors dispute about specific content and continuously change the content to place their desired content.
The users engaged in the conflict will be warned each.
C-10
  • Articles will be marked with the “TW” template if these have the following content:
    • Small mentions of violent content and blood.
    • Small mentions and references to alcohol, tobacco and drugs.
    • Dark, mature or crude humour.
    • Profane language.
    • Discrimination/Xenophobia.
    • Mentions of gambling.
    • Mentions of sexual content.
  • Articles will be marked with the “SW” template if these have some mentions of suicide, self-harm and mental crisis. The SW template will give a list of helplines to prevent suicide.
  • Articles will be marked with the “FW” template if these articles have irritating visuals. Placing the notice will hide the content on Desktop, with the goal of preventing epileptic seizures.
The TW/FW/SW template will be placed. And the user who does not place it will be warned.
C-11 Content will be deleted if these have the following content:
  • Visual and repeatedly mentioned violence and gore.
  • Repeatedly mentioned suicide and self-harm-related content.
  • Visual sexual content (pornography).
Depends on the content posted:
  • Strong suicide/self-harm: The creator of the article will receive a strike.
  • Strong violence: The creator of the article will receive two strikes.
    • Gore: The creator of the article will receive three strikes.
  • Strong sexual themes (pornography): The creator of the article will be blocked permanently.
C-12 You mustn’t duplicate images, videos, or any media (files). The duplicate file will be deleted. And the user who uploaded it will receive a strike.
C-13 Files should be used shortly after it’s creation. If the file hasn’t been used for a week, it will be deleted. And the user who uploaded it will be warned.
C-14 You mustn’t create templates that weren’t approved for creation by an administrator. The user who creates a template that hasn’t been allowed will receive two strikes.

Administration

This section is about rules that apply only to the site's staff members.

Code Rule
A-1 Staff members must follow all the rules of the Nyan Cat Wiki.
A-2 Staff should first ask bureaucrats to implement new features.
A-3 Bureaucrats are the only users that can give the rights to other users.
A-5 All the administrators and bureaucrats need to have an agreement so a user can become a staff member.
A-6 Before applying, you need to be sure you meet with all the requirements to become a staff member.
A-7 Staff who have been inactive for a long time will be demoted.
  • Content moderators will be demoted when they did not edit for two months.
  • Discussions moderators will be demoted when they did not post for three months.
  • Content administrators will be demoted when they did not edit for six months.
  • Discussions administrators will be demoted when they did not post for nine months.
A-8 A private poll between the administrators will be held when another staff members breaks some of the rules, a voting where the staff decides if the staff member should stay in the position or not, with the following format:
  • If the majority agree to say “Yes”, the user will still be part of the staff team.
  • If the majority agree to say “No”, the user will be demoted.
A-9 Staff members will be demoted if they do not use their rights properly or abuse them.
A-10 If an staff member’s account is blocked across the Fandom network, they will be demoted, but can reinstate their rights by contacting one of the bureaucrats after their global block expires.
A-11 Users who were blocked twice can apply to become a staff member at least nine months after their most recent block, users who were blocked over three times or have been blocked permanently will not become staff members.
A-12 If an staff member’s account is disabled or deleted, they will be demoted, and won’t be in the reinstatement process unless they confirm to have a new account and were not disabled by Fandom.

Moderation

This section is about rules that apply to the wiki's moderation side.

Code Rule
M-1 The only users who can block users are administrators and bureaucrats.
M-2 Warnings come before strikes, if a user with a valid warning breaks another rule that as a punishment leads to another warning, they will receive a strike instead.
M-3 Bureaucrats are the only users that can give block mercies.
  • A block mercy is the act of removing all the valid blocks from a user. This can only be done if the user hasn’t been breaking any of the rules for at least 90 days. A block mercy can only be expired if the user has been breaking the rules again after being forgiven.
M-4 A user can only be blocked five times:
  • If a user with three strikes and/or no blocks breaks a rule that lead to another strike/block, they will be blocked for three days instead, being their first block.
  • If a user with three strikes and/or a previous block breaks a rule that lead to another strike/block, they will be blocked for a week instead, being their second block.
  • If a user with three strikes and/or two previous blocks breaks a rule that lead to another strike/block, they will be blocked for two weeks instead, being their third block.
  • If a user with three strikes and/or three previous blocks breaks a rule that lead to another strike/block, they will be blocked for a month instead, being their fourth block.
  • If a user with three strikes and/or four previous blocks breaks a rule that lead to strike/block, they will be blocked permanently, being their fifth and final block.
M-5 If you think that you have been blocked in an unfair way, please contact an administrator privately in order to appeal your ban. If the ban wasn’t justified, it will be lifted
